Your new septic system is a complex environment comprised of bacteria and waste water from your home. If your septic tank installation is working properly, your septic system will take in sewage from your home and then turn that sewage into relatively clean water. This water in turn is redistributed back into the environment. In general, your septic system requires little direct maintenance from you. However, knowing what can acceptably go into the system, as well as what should come back out and when, will help you maintain your septic system properly.
